Member Summary Terms Glossary

In the Member Summary Report each member at the club is evaluated on the following:

  • Current Index - a player's current Handicap index in the World Handicap System
  • Cap Score – Much like a credit score for the player's Current Index. It is the outcome of the Cap Patrol algorithm after looking at the player's 43 data points and rating their current index on a scale of 0-100. See What is a golfers Cap Score
  • New Index – The suggested new index of a player that meets the requirements for a handicap adjustment.
  • (+/-) – The difference between the current Handicap Index in the WHS and the new Handicap Index suggested by Cap Patrol. See Handicap Adjustment Explained

NOTE: Players that have a (+/-) of 0.9 or lower should not be adjusted per WHS guidelines

Last 12 Months

  • High – The high Handicap index for the last 12 months.

NOTE: Cap Patrol does not factor in the Soft Cap, Hard Cap, or Modified to maintain the raw data and provide the best accuracy.

  • Low – The low Handicap index for the last 12 months.

NOTE: Cap Patrol does not factor in the Soft Cap, Hard Cap, or Modified to maintain the raw data and provide the best accuracy.

  • Vs Now % - The percentage a player’s handicap index is above their 12-month Low Index. The Calculation is done by adding 12 to each comparable index before calculating so to even out comparing indexes that are very low to very high. Players with their percentage highlighted in red are in the top 5% at the club for this data point. Players in the Yellow are in the top 6%-10% in the club.

Home vs Away

  • Home – A player’s Index from their last 5 home rounds
  • Away – A player’s index from their last 5 away rounds
  • Diff % - The percentage difference between Home vs Away.

If the number is positive, the player plays better in Home Rounds.

If the Number is negative, the player plays better in Away Rounds.

12 is added to each index before calculation of the results to smooth the comparison of very low and very high indexes. Players with their percentage highlighted in red are in the top 5% at the club for this data point. Players in the Yellow are in the top 6%-10% in the club.

Competition

  • Rounds – Competitive rounds played over the past 24 months (capped at 20)
  • Index – The calculated index for all competitive rounds found for that player following the World Handicap System calculations.

NOTE: World Handicap System uses the last 20 competitive rounds, or the last 24 months of competitive rounds if 20 competitive rounds have not been played in the past 24 months.

Cap Patrol uses 3 or more scores to determine competition index calculation and follow after 3 scores GHIN/WHS guidelines Cap Patrol does not use GHIN/WHS for 0-2 rounds as Cap Patrol does not deem that sufficient data to make a decision on a players ability.

  • Ability % - How much better or worse a player’s competition potential index is compared to their current index.

12 is added to each index before calculation of the results to smooth the comparison of very low and very high indexes. Players with their percentage highlighted in red are in the top 5% at the club for this data point. Players in the Yellow are in the top 6%-10% in the club.

EPS

  • Points – Number of points earned in events and tournaments at the club determined by place or finish. This is tracked over a 24 month period. See Event Point System (EPS) Explained

NOTE: Points are only earned in Net Scoring Events

  • Adj % - Showing what the adjustment to a player’s index would be if only using the EPS Point System, not all factors of WHS data

Data Points and Cap Score

The Key metrics in determining Cap Score in the Member Summary Report are

  • Vs Now %
  • Diff %
  • Ability %
  • EPS - Points

Members in the top 5% of the club and top 10 % of the club in those metrics will have those values highlighted in red or yellow respectively

The Last 12 Months column shows Handicap Index updates over the last 12 months (typically updated at the end of each month). The two numbers in bold are the 12 Month High & 12 Month Low.

The Home vs Away column shows the last 5 recorded Home and Away scores.

The Competition column shows the last 20 or fewer competition rounds in the past 24 months. Competition records are displayed as Score/Differential.

Bolded scores are the scores being factored into the Competition Index calculation per USGA guidelines.

An asterisk (*) notes a score other than an 18 hole score. The differential is always the 18 hole differential.

The EPS column shows the member’s competition results at your club in the past 24 months. Only placings will be shown here. This gives the point distribution from each event placing that contributed to a member’s Event Point System score
