Data integrity is of the utmost importance to Cap Patrol.
Cap Patrol uses our “Flagged Data” system to assist Handicap Administrators in identifying scoring records that may be incorrect in the GHIN/WHS database.
To access the Flagged Data Report:
- Select Reports from the left-side menu
- Select the MEMBER tab
- Select the FLAGGED DATA tab

The Flagged Data tab is comprised of 2 parts
Score Issues and Tournament Data
Score Issues
Cap Patrol will flag two types of scores from the WHS scoring records
- Flagged Exceptional Scores - Flagged exceptional scores are scores that are not marked as exceptional in GHIN/WHS and the differential of the score is >10 less than the golfer's handicap index at the time of posting.
These apply to any competition scores in the past 2 years or their past 5 home and away scores as these are the scores that are relevant to the Cap Score calculation
- Duplicate Competition Scores - Duplicate scores are scores that have the same date, score, course rating, slope rating, and number of played holes for the same golfer
Cap Patrol flags these types of scores because it is often the case these scores were posted incorrectly
IMPORTANT: Flagged Scores cannot be changed in GHIN/WHS from Cap Patrol directly. These scores must be changed or deleted in GHIN or WHS first before action is taken in Cap Patrol to remove them from the Flagged Data Report.
Resolving Flagged Exception Scores
The first step in resolving a flagged exceptional score is to check with the golfer if the score was posted correctly. Often times golfers can post a score for <18 holes as an 18 hole score, resulting in a far lower score differential than they should receive for that round.
If the score was posted incorrectly
- make the appropriate change to the score in GHIN/WHS first.
- Return to Cap Patrol and click the ACTION REQUIRED button for the corresponding round

A pop up notice will ensure you have made the correct steps in WHS/GHIN and then allow you to sync the WHS/GHIN records with Cap Patrol by clicking ACKNOWLEDGE & SYNC

This will reload the current GHIN/WHS records and the score will now be correct in Cap Patrol to match GHIN/WHS records
If the score was legitimate
- click the ACCEPT AS ACCURATE button for the corresponding round to dismiss this score from your Flagged Data Report.

NOTE: Once a score has been “Accepted as Accurate” it will not be flagged again. Please confirm the score was posted correctly before taking this action in Cap Patrol
Resolving Duplicate Competition Scores
Duplicate competition scores are typically a result of both the Club Handicap administrator and the golfer posting the same score in GHIN for a competition round.
To resolve, go to GHIN/WHS and delete one of the posted scores.
Then return to Cap Patrol and click the ACTION REQUIRED button for the corresponding round.

A pop up notice will ensure you have made the correct steps in WHS/GHIN and then allow you to sync the WHS/GHIN records with Cap Patrol by clicking ACKNOWLEDGE & SYNC

This will reload the current GHIN/WHS records and the scoring records will now be correct in Cap Patrol to match GHIN/WHS records
NOTE: Cap Patrol does not allow duplicate competition scores to be “Accepted as Accurate”, as it is highly unlikely a golfer played 2 competition rounds on the same date with identical scores, course ratings, slope ratings, and number of played holes.
If in the rare case this does happen at your club, please contact support@cappatrol.com via email and we will address this matter for you
