The Event Point System (EPS) is Cap Patrol’s scoring system for Club Events, Tournaments and League Play conducted in a Net Handicap scoring format
The Event Point System accounts for performance in all club events and tournaments, regardless of format
The EPS in Cap Patrol takes into consideration a golfers performance in Tournaments and Events played in a format outside the standard rules of golf, such as scramble tournaments, alternate shot tournaments, and other non individual formats.
Scramble Tournaments and non individual events are common at many clubs, The Event Point System is our solution to account for success in these tournaments as well.
Cap Patrol and the EPS does still account for Events and Tournaments held in tradition formats by the standard rules of golf. It is a catch all for all competitive formats your club may use
EPS Point Distribution
Cap Patrol will distribute EPS points to each member placing at a Net Event.
Cap Patrol tracks each member’s EPS point accumulation over a 27 month period to determine if a member is consistently outperforming their handicap in competition. After 27 months, or input of the Results for the 3rd consecutive year, Cap Patrol will no longer use the outdated results from the Event and Tournament contribute to a member's EPS score.
EPS points are a key factor in determining Cap Score. EPS points account for success in competition regardless of event format.
Scoring and Weighting
There are several tiers of EPS point distribution based on:
- Field Size
- Event Designation - Major or Minor
To view the EPS scoring breakdown:
- Select Admin in the Left Side menu
- Select the EPS tab

Depending on the field size and designation of Major or Minor, Cap Patrol will distribute EPS points to each golfer placing at a Net Event or Tournament at your club
The maximum Event Points a golfer can win from a single event is 6.0. This would be finishing 1st in a 100+ person Major.
Please note each point distribution column, as it may affect whether you designate an Event as “Major” or “Minor”.
