Any time a golfer falls below a Cap Score of 50 Cap Patrol will recommend that golfer for a Handicap Adjustment.
This will be indicated by a Yellow or Red highlighting in the Member Summary Report.
Cap Patrol does not recommend making the handicap in the GHIN or WHS system.
Handicap Adjustments are to be made for Tournaments and Events at your club to more accurately handicap these events.
It is recommended to assess the Member Summary Report and notify members of their adjusted handicap prior to upcoming Events or Tournaments.
Review Sending Member Adjustment Notice to see how to inform a member of a Handicap Adjustment using Cap Patrol.
An adjustment should be upheld and renewed as long as the golfer remains in Cap Patrol’s adjustment range.
A common practice of Handicap Committees is to review the Cap Patrol recommended adjustments in the Member Summary Report at the end of each month, then enforce the adjustments on the 1st of the following month. Setting the duration of the adjustment for 1 months time, to be re-evaluated at the end of that month.
The handicap monitoring and review process is an important component of the overall USGA handicap system. The USGA allows for handicap adjustments under section 7-1a of the “USGA Handicap System”. Thus, the handicap committee may modify a player’s handicap index over and above the standard handicap calculations used in GHIN/WHS, to better reflect the players potential playing ability.
