Creating a New Tournament/Event
To add an Event (Tournament) to your records:
- Select Admin in the left side menu
- Select the TOURNAMENTS tab
- Click the +ADD EVENT button
Complete the following required fields:
- Name
- Gender
- Size - For a team event, “Size” is the number of Teams, not individual golfers
- Gross/Net
- Type - Designation of Major or Minor is up to the users discretion
- Flights - This field should only be “Yes” for flighted events that come together for a playoff to determine one champion. If the event is flighted and only flight winners are determined without a playoff, set up each flight as it’s own event with the flight name in the “Level/Notes” field
- Be sure the View Tournament box is checked
- Click SAVE
Flighted Events
Flighted Events are setup in two different formats, depending on if the flight winners compete for an overall champion or not.
Flighted events will have two different setups in Cap Patrol based off this distinction:
- Do flight winners compete in a playoff format for an overall campion?
- Is winning a flight the highest level of achievement for this event?
Flighted Events with a Playoff/Horse Race/ Shootout etc. to determine Overall Champion
Events where the winner of each flight come together to compete for a one overall winner should be the only events in your Cap Patrol system listed as a Flighted Event
To create a flighted event, complete the steps above in “Creating a New Tournament/Event” and make sure the field for flights says “Yes”
NOTE: Make sure the field size is reflective of the total competitors in the Overall Event, not each flight
When entering Results for a flighted event, only enter the highest level of achievement for each placing golfer.
For example, If a golfer wins their flight and also the overall championship, only list that golfer as the overall winner. Nom golfer should appear twice on the results page.
If a golfer only wins their flight and received no higher placing in the playoff, list them in the “Flight” section of the results page.
Use the + button on the left hand side to add as many flight winners as needed
Flighted Events with No Playoffs
If your Event has flights, but winning the flight is the highest achievement and there is No Playoff then each Flight will be a separate event in the Cap Patrol System. This is because each flight is in essence its own Event with it’s own set of placings
To set up a flighted event with no playoff or overall winner:
Create a new tournament for each flight
Type the flight name in the “Level/Notes” field and make sure the “Flights” field is “No”
NOTE: Make sure the field size is reflective of the size of the flight, not the size of the overall Event
When entering results for each flight, input all placings that your club recognizes for each flight
Each flight will require its own set of inputs
